Do you have an early riser in your house? Like a before the rooster even wakes up kind of baby? Or maybe your baby is waking after a short 30 minute nap...This is so common - and you may be able to fix it!
A favorite technique to combat this early waking is the "wake to sleep" approach. It was developed by Tracy Hoagg, a sleep genius and author of Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby.
☀️ For early wakings: Gently stir your baby 1 hour before typical wake time to help transition to the next sleep cycle. Give baby a cheek rub or a foot tickle. Only enough to stir movement but not wake up fully.
☀️ For short naps: Gently stir baby 10 minutes before typical wake time, or 20 minutes after baby falls asleep.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ Remember to not wake up baby, but allow movement!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ Check environment: How dark is the room? It is a cool temperature? Is your sound machine strong enough? Is baby comfortable?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✔️ For an older child, try an okay to wake clock and light. This will help give structure in knowing when your child needs to stay in bed and the power to get out of bed when the light changes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With consistency, you can make changes happen!
